The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has just released the identity of the motorcyclist that was killed over the weekend.
Devin Lyle Cortina, a 19 year old from Apple Valley was killed early Sunday morning on the Interstate 10 freeway in Pomona.
The accident occurred shortly after midnight. Cortina’s bike had broken down while he was in the second lane of the freeway traveling west. He was standing in the lane with the inoperative motorcycle when he was hit by a pickup truck. The truck forced him into the next lane where he was hit by a smaller vehicle.
There were also two other vehicles that had crashed in attempts to avoid hitting him, and they are being considered part of the collision.
Cortina was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was responded to by California Highway Patrol. They took statements and began the cleanup. It was not until later on Sunday that the coroner’s office confirmed the identity.
